About Gold-Eagle Cooperative
GOLD-EAGLE COOPERATIVE has been providing agronomy services for over 100 years, producing animal feed and grain. It has established itself as a pre-eminent member-led organization in North Central Iowa, one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world.
Across 16 locations, Gold-Eagle Cooperative feed mills comprise over 1,000 pieces of equipment, four pellet lines and nearly 600 gearboxes, producing between 1,500 to 2,000 tons of animal feed daily, all year round.
With temperatures ranging from -20°F in winter to 115°F in summer, a maintenance team of just four people works all year to keep the equipment and crucial feed mills running.

Prior to working with Petro-Canada Lubricants, Gold-Eagle Cooperative used a grease product that was unable to keep up with the high-level requirements of its feed mills and production targets. The grease was unable to pump through the equipment in cold temperatures, causing the grease lines to be clogged up. As a result, the equipment would struggle to start up in cold temperatures, causing heavy wear within the bearings and potential for production delays. Additionally, oil within the equipment had to be changed at very frequent intervals of three months. This collectively led to high levels of downtime, sometimes amounting to half a day each month, resulting in $10,000 to $15,000 being spent on reactive maintenance, including replacing parts and oil changes.
After more than a year of using PURITY™ FG2 Extreme, Gold-Eagle Cooperative has seen major changes in its mills. All its prior issues have been resolved, increasing its overall efficiency and fulfilling its production demands.
Its equipment is seeing significantly less downtime. The frequency of blockages or part breakdowns has reduced, which has saved the company both money and time required to fix issues. Its lines and rolls are no longer being plugged by dry, hard grease. PURITY™ FG 2 Extreme has stretched out grease intervals on most bearings, reducing bearing failures by nearly 50%.
Gold-Eagle Cooperative believes that its mills will be able to operate for years without needing an oil change by implementing a thorough filtering and oil analysis program. Using SYNDURO™ SHB 150, a synthetic fluid designed for lubricating gears, bearings and compression equipment in extreme, demanding weather, has helped Gold-Eagle Cooperative significantly. Due to this lubricant, its equipment now starts and runs smoothly even in sub-zero temperatures.
“Seeing the incredibly positive impact PURITY™ FG2 Extreme has had on our business and production capability, I don’t see us switching to another grease. The lack of downtime has saved our staff from working overtime trying to fix the equipment, which has made them very happy and allowed us to focus on more important aspects of the business.”
