Petro-Canada™ Lubricants' distribution network extends to over 80 countries worldwide
May 15, 2017
As the month of May kicked off at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports (SPM) took to the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course for the fourth installment of the IndyCar Grand Prix Saturday.
The Petro Canada Lubricants sponsored team struggled initially in practice and made some big adjustments to the car setup ahead of qualifying. Despite this, James Hinchcliffe could do no better than 10th on the grid.
In what was a rather uneventful, clean event, Hinchcliffe ran as high as seventh, but struggled to improve over the course of the 85-lap contest and had to settle for 13th.
With a challenging weekend now in the rear view mirror, the team and drivers now shift their focus to the marquee event of the year, the Indianapolis 500. Last year, Hinchcliffe scored the pole position in an emphatic comeback after a career and life threatening accident in 2015.
The run up to the Indianapolis 500 starts on Monday, May 15th with practice days all the way through May 19th. Qualifying takes place on May 20-21 to set the grid for the 101st running of the world’s largest one-day sporting event. The 200-lap, 500-mile race takes place on Sunday, May 28th.

"It was not the best weekend for the Arrow crew. We rolled off the truck with a car that finished on the podium at this track last year. It’s so tough because every race this year, our strength has been rolling off the truck with a good car. In a series that’s so competitive, and we have such little track time, that’s the key because it’s really tough to bounce back from a bad first session, and unfortunately that’s what we had. We’re going to try and bounce back from this; we’ve got the two biggest weekends of the year coming up and we’re going to try and hit it out of the park."
