Canadian IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe delivered a top 10 finish at Pocono Raceway on August 22 as part of the Verizon IndyCar Series 2016. The 500-mile race was scheduled for Sunday but postponed by a day after severe weather cancelled the day's track activity.

Hinchcliffe, who is a brand ambassador for Petro-Canada Lubricants, started the race in sixth place but suffered balance issues and a loose engine cover, which resulted in an additional pit stop to allow the Arrow Electronics crew to fix the problem. Despite these setbacks, the Canadian driver managed to stay mid-pack and cross the finish line in tenth place.

"It was a solid top ten," said Hinchcliffe. "It certainly wasn't the result we were hoping for after qualifying but given the circumstances we're pretty pleased with the result."

"We had a decent top-five run going for the first half of the race and then we had a piece of bodywork start to separate on the engine cover. It was not only creating a bit of drag but also changed the handling of the car and we were losing a lot of lap time. We came in and made some repairs to the bodywork, but anytime you’re attaching tape onto a car during a pit stop in a race, you know things have gone a bit south!"

The Verizon IndyCar Series now returns to Texas Motor Speedway for the continuation of the Firestone 600. The 248-lap race originally started on Saturday, June 11 but 72 laps in, severe weather forced a red flag and the race was rescheduled for Saturday, August 27. At the time of the red flag, James Hinchcliffe was in first position and will reclaim the same spot when the race resumes.

"It was yet another gutsy performance from James – he definitely had his fair share of issues in Pocono but he overcame them and went on to deliver a very credible race," said Howard McIntyre, vice president, lubricants.

"We are right behind James for the next race in Texas. We have no doubt that his competitive edge backed by great team support will see him deliver when he needs to. It continues to be a privilege to partner with James and watch him deliver great things on the track."
