Petro-Canada™ Lubricants' distribution network extends to over 80 countries worldwide
May 25, 2016
Canadian IndyCar driver, James Hinchcliffe has secured pole position for the historic 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
Hinchcliffe, who is sponsored by Petro-Canada Lubricants, took pole in dramatic fashion. The last driver to make a four-lap qualifying run, he edged out Josef Newgarden by 0.06 mph, with an average speed of 230.760 mph.
"We are delighted to be a part of James’ amazing success, which has received so much global attention," said Howard McIntyre, vice president, Petro-Canada Lubricants. "I have a great sense of pride seeing our maple leaf logo on the race suit and car of the pole sitter for the Indy 500, and we know that James will do us proud in the race."
"Indycar is all about using technological excellence and innovation to improve efficiency and gain competitive edge, which perfectly aligns with our business values. This is a valuable partnership in building brand awareness within our distributor network, as well as for our end users."
Hinchcliffe also lead the headlines earlier this month after he pledged to donate the prize funds for his third place finish at the 2016 Grand Prix of Indianapolis to the Canadian Red Cross to support the victims of the Fort McMurray wildfires.
The Canadian driver was eager to help his fellow countrymen after wildfires devastated over 520,000 hectares and left more than 88,000 people homeless.
"It is heart-breaking to see so many people who have lost their homes, said Hinchcliffe. The Canadian Red Cross has been doing a tremendous job. We just pray that the weather will cooperate and any further damage can be contained. In the meantime, I want to offer support for those affected."
Hinchcliffe will line up on pole for the 2016 Indianapolis 500 on Sunday 29th May.
Petro-Canada Lubricant’s partnership with Hinchclife for the 2016 IndyCar season marks the company’s first venture into the United States motorsports space, having previously participated in Canada and Europe.
