In the closest finish in track history, James Hinchcliffe, brand ambassador for Petro-Canada Lubricants, appeared on the IndyCar Series podium with a second place finish at the Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Worth.

In a dramatic conclusion to the Firestone 600, which began in June but was postponed due to adverse weather, Hinchcliffe took an early lead, delivering a masterclass performance in precision driving under the lights of the 1.5 mile banked oval circuit.

Heading into the final laps, it was a straight dash to the chequered flag as four cars battled it out for the win. Hinchcliffe maintained the lead with a display of defensive driving until the climactic final lap. He crossed the line just 0.008 seconds behind race winner Graham Rahal.

Hinchcliffe commented: "It was a great race; the car was just a rocket ship. We built it to be good over a tire stint, which is always the name of the game here in Texas. It is the best we have placed this season so far and we are edging ever closer to that winners’ trophy which we’ll definitely achieve with the support of our fantastic partners. Petro-Canada Lubricants' constant support is a real confidence boost and helps me to aim for that top spot."

Speaking about the race on Sunday, Howard McIntyre, vice president, lubricants, added: "Once again James has delivered a performance that he can be proud. This demonstrates the power that a really strong team has. We are delighted for James following his performance this weekend and look forward to working with him."

The Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Watkins Glen for the IndyCar Grand Prix on Sunday, September 4 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The 60-lap competition will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network.
