It was a podium position for Petro-Canada Lubricants sponsored driver, James Hinchcliffe, who finished the 2016 Honda Indy Toronto in third position.

This is the first time Hinchcliffe has received a trophy on the Toronto track – just a short journey from his hometown of Oakville, and his best position in a Canadian race.

Starting sixth after qualifying, Hinchcliffe faced a number of balancing issues with the No.5 Arrow Electronics car during the first half of the 85-lap race. His team then made a change in fuel strategy in the second half of the race, helping Hinchcliffe to push forward for a top three placement.

"It was a great end to the day," said Hinchcliffe. "It was definitely a team effort, so a huge thanks to the Arrow Electronics boys in the pits because getting to the podium here in my home country is awesome."

"I also cannot thank everyone at Petro-Canada Lubricants enough. Leading up to the race - it was great to see all the added 'maple leafs' this week. From the plant tour, to the headquarters visit with the employees and customers, to having a great contingent on and off the track. It's been a great partnership I am really proud of. I look forward to many more experiences with the company in the future."

Hinchcliffe visited Petro-Canada Lubricants, during the week running up to the race, meeting a number of customers and employees at its Lubricants Centre facility before heading to its head office on Lakeshore. Hinchcliffe also got a peek behind the scenes at some of the next generation innovations Petro-Canada Lubricants is currently developing.

"Technology, innovation, quality and reliability are the cornerstones of Petro-Canada Lubricants, which perfectly align with James’ approach to racing", said Howard McIntyre, vice president, Lubricants. "We are delighted to see James get the race he deserves and demonstrating the power of collaboration between car technology and lubricants innovation."

McIntyre continues, "Having James reach the podium in a race held in Canada made it even more special for us all. We are very proud of our partnership with James, not only because he is a great driver but also because of his Canadian connection. James and his team performed exceptionally well and the trophy he received over the weekend was well earned. We look forward to a continued strong partnership this season."

Hinchcliffe next races at the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.
